Fatal Traffic Accident at 13000 South Freeway
August 19, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 13000 block of the South Freeway (State Highway 288 South) about 3:40 a.m. today (Aug. 19).
The male victim was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer A. Alaniz reported:
The victim was driving his blue Chevrolet pickup northbound on the South Freeway when his truck veered to the right across the northbound lanes and struck the Almeda Genoa exit sign before hitting the guardrail. The truck then damaged several feet of the guardrail and came to a rest in the grassy median, next to the Almeda Genoa exit ramp. The driver was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. No other vehicles were involved in this incident.
Fatal Traffic Accident in The 13900 Block of The Gulf Freeway
August 17, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 13900 block of the Gulf Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 South) about 6:25 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 16).
The male driver, Jose Luis Sosa, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Morgan and Officer R. Ontiveros reported:
Mr. Sosa was driving a red Ford sport utility vehicle southbound on the Gulf Freeway when he left his lane and struck a pole. No other vehicles were involved in this incident.
Fatal Traffic Accident at 12020 North Freeway
August 17, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 12020 North Freeway (Interstate Highway 45 North) about 7:50 a.m. on Saturday (Aug. 15).
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Calley and Officer D. Harwell reported:
The victim was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on the North Freeway, exited onto the westbound ramp to the North Sam Houston Tollway, when he struck the retaining wall and was thrown from the Harley Davidson. He then fell several feet below the ramp onto the grassy median below.
No other vehicles were involved in this incident.
Fatal Shooting at 12654 Ashford Meadow
August 17, 2009 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 4400 block of Woodway about 4:05 p.m. Friday (Aug. 14).
The male victim, David Keith Fisher II, 24, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S.R. Sorge and Officer D.C. Nguyen reported:
Mr. Fisher was driving his white Lexus GS300 westbound in the 4400 block of Woodway when he experienced a tire blow out and lost control of the vehicle. His vehicle veered to the right, struck a curb and left the roadway at a high rate of speed. The Lexus then struck a large tree on the driver’s side of the vehicle which fell on top of the vehicle killing Mr. Fisher.
