More claims related to salmonella outbreak filed
PLAINVIEW, TX - The Plainview peanut plant is back in the news Tuesday.
A Houston lawyer representing those sickened by the salmonella outbreak linked to two peanut plants will file about 55 compensation claims. Those claims will be added to nearly 120 personal injury claims. Those people are seeking compensation from a $12 million insurance fund.
Health officials traced the outbreak of salmonella to the Peanut Corporation of America with plants in Blakely, Georgia and Plainview, Texas.
Officials blame the company for 700 or more illnesses and at least nine deaths.
