Girl airlifted from sports park; multiple injured in two wrecks
Three wrecks Sunday afternoon sent multiple people to hospitals.
A PHI air medical helicopter took a girl, under the age of 18, to a Houston hospital after she wrecked a bike at the Three Palms Extreme Sports Park on I-45 in Conroe, said a Conroe Fire Department dispatcher. The accident occurred Sunday evening around 6 p.m.
A couple hours earlier, at 3:51 p.m. a 2003 Ford F-150 truck struck the rear of a 1995 Ford F-150 truck that was stopped on Texas 105 East to turn north onto Lee Turner Drive, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Eric Lopez said. He issued a citation for failure to control speed to the driver of the 2003 truck. The driver told Lopez that she dropped sunflower seeds and reached down to pick them up when the wreck occurred.
The wreck caused two people to be taken by ambulance to Cleveland Regional Medical Center to be checked out. No injuries are believed to be serious, he said.
Just moments after the wreck happened, further west on Texas 105, at the intersection of FM 1485, a motorcycle and sports utility vehicle collided. Only one person needed medical attention and the injury was minor, a Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputy said.
Traffic heading east on 105 was deterred until law enforcement cleared the scene.
